Yarnbury Rugby Club

Skipton 58 - Yarnbury 10
This is one of two final games in the league for the Horsforth Club although it will not effect promotion and relegation so Yarnbury blooded a team consisting of younger players for experience and because of enforced injuries and unavailabilities. It also was a chance for Skipton to reverse a 50 point swing in the earlier league fixture.

Skipton had the early dominance in the scrums with their larger pack which meant the Horsforth side were relying on scraps at the scrums and with only Ian Maycock as a recognised jumper in the line outs were also struggling for ball.

The game was competitive apart from the final 10 minutes and Yarnbury scored two good tries one in each half firstly,Chris Flowers raced over down the left with an attacking move started by stand off Stephen Riley .In the second half stand out back row Richard Longstaff forced himself over from a drive from a maul but both conversions were missed by young full back Daniel Pound.

In between Skipton scored mainly through the middle and their pack with South African Hooker and Captain Matt Speres outstanding.Skipton had a strong 15 on the field to do honour to their recently dearted clubmanThey did their recently departed clubman proud with a strong side and good natured crowd in honour of club legend Richard Wilman.

For Yarnbury Stephen Riley took the crutial stand off role as he did in midweek in the Aire Wharfe final for the defeated Yarnbury Hornets side at Bramley and helped to shore up the defense with some crunching tackles.
